Canon 5D Mark III | 50mm | F2.2 | 1/160 | ISO160
“Hung by the neck until dead!”
Thankfully not in this case, but it certainly caught my eye.
This shot made me laugh as I walked in from working in the studio, so for that reason, it made the Daily Fifty!
For optimum balance of background separation and sharpness, F2.2 was what it took. I often like shooting at F2/2.2 as it gives a very similar effect as F1.4 does, but it’s much /much/ sharper.
When post processing this image, I really liked the feel of the extra bright exposure. So for this image, I gained nearly a whole stop of light, then applied some thickening to the shadows and blacks to counteract the exposure difference. I like the look, and will no doubt play around with this more in the future. I like the bright, contrasty black and white images. They just sing out to me, just like this image did!
