This image signifies the third week milestone! I have often wondered about doing such a daily challenge for such a long time, and it’s a HUGE breath of fresh air to actually be able to do it, AND keep up to date with it all. It has almost become too overwhelming these last few days, though I wouldn’t expect it to get any more hectic than it has been, so this can definitely last.
What a lovely back story to this image…
I shot this without knowing the meaning behind why these two hats were placed this way, and neither did I know there was one! Pure coincidence, if I am honest. However, I soon found out that the hat’s symbolize each of my two lovely parents. The floral patterned hat obviously not being the masculine desirable!
I stumbled across (I do this an awful lot) the scene later this evening, and it was gorgeous. I didn’t need to position arrange or touch the hats in any way, it was just perfect.
Shot with completely ambient light (behind the clouds), and I love the brightness I was able to capture in the importance of the two subjects.
I shot this particular image at F1.4, because the bench (albeit lovely too), would prove to be too distracting, and take away from the fact, that these two hat’s symbolize the love between a man, and a woman.
As for post-processing, I de-saturated the bench and wall area, and added some split toning of warms to the highlights, and cool colours to the shadows, but only a tiny amount (FAST SHOW!)
This has to be one of my favourite inanimate captures due to the symbolism and shear simplicity. It’s likely you would have already worked out that was the story behind these two objects before you read it.
They just glow, and I love it!
