This dog is utterly adorable! His name is Smudge, and he has been pestering me ALL day by dropping his beloved tennis ball at my feet, and propped up on anything of interest in-front of me whilst I work. Such a cutie!
It’s most unusual that you will find a dog, or an animal what so ever, that is willing to just stare, and not come towards you if you bend down. He’s very interested and seems intrigued by everything you say or do. He even reacts boldly to lots of different facial expressions which is really funny to watch.
I captured this shot whilst I figured he would stand still enough and look straight at me, and this was true. If I had the time to recompose slightly, I would have included the ball that was at my feet, but I knew if I showed any movement towards getting that ball, he would be straight to it, and I would have missed the shot.
Shot at F1.8 to blur the dirt/gravel background, and also give a nice fall-off to his shadow. I also added quite a bit of clarity in post, as well as brightening the shadows and mid tones to bring out the shadow on the left side of his face.
